Pedicularis resupinata ("Shiogamagiku")

Japanese name: シオガマギク (塩竈菊)
Scientific name: Pedicularis resupinata

[Overview]
A perennial 30–100 cm tall, found in sunny grasslands in the mountains.
The stems branch from the base.
Leaves are simple, opposite on the lower part of the stem and alternate on the upper part; they are narrowly ovate, 3–7 cm long and 1–2.5 cm wide, with regular doubly serrate margins.
The leaf base gradually narrows into a leaf stalk 0.3–2 cm long.
The flowers are solitary in the axils of broadly ovate bracts at the stem tip.
The flowers are reddish purple, two-lipped, and 2 cm long, twisted to one side; the upper lip narrows abruptly at the tip into a beak-like point, and the lower lip is shallowly 3-lobed.
