Scrophularia duplicatoserrata

[Overview]
A perennial 0.4–1 m tall, found in slightly shaded, moist places in mountain forests.
It has swollen underground stems and produces thin roots.
The whole plant gives a delicate impression; the stem is rather soft, angular with 4 ridges, and hairless.
Leaves are simple and opposite, 6–11 cm long and 3–5 cm wide, ovate-oblong with a pointed tip, thin, and the margin has sharp double serrations.
The petiole is slightly winged.
A panicle at the stem tip bears many flowers sparsely.
The flowers are dark reddish purple and urn-shaped, 0.6–0.9 cm long, with the tip divided into 5 lips-like lobes: the upper lip has 2 lobes and the lower lip has 3.
There are 4 stamens and 1 staminode.
The calyx is deeply 5-lobed.
The flower stalks are slender and sparsely covered with glandular hairs.
The fruit is a spherical capsule 0.6–0.7 cm long and 0.5–0.6 cm wide.
