[Overview]
A climbing perennial found in mountain forests.
The stem is slender, twines around other plants and grows long, and is slightly hairy.
Leaves are simple and opposite, broadly lanceolate with a triangular shape, with a long pointed tip and a slightly expanded, heart-shaped base.
The leaf margins are entire.
The leaves are thin in texture.
Leaves on the upper part of the stem are smaller.
The petiole is 1–3 cm long.
Short inflorescences arise from the leaf axils, and their length is no more than half the length of the leaf.
The flowers are 4–6 mm across and dark purplish brown to pale purplish brown.
The corolla is 5-lobed and has white woolly hairs on the inside.
The corona opens in a star shape and is shorter than the gynostegium.
The fruit is a narrowly lanceolate follicle 5–7 cm long, borne in pairs horizontally at the tip of the stalk.
The follicle splits open when ripe, releasing seeds with long hairs.
