Sinoadina racemosa

[Overview]
A deciduous tree 4–12 m tall, found in evergreen forests.
The leaves are simple and opposite, 5–15 cm long and 3–10 cm wide, broadly ovate to oblong, with a glossy upper surface.
The leaf margin is entire.
The petiole is 2–4 cm long.
At the branch tips it bears racemose clusters of 3–10 flower heads, each 1.5 cm across.
The flowers are cream-colored and tubular; the corolla is shallowly 5-lobed, and the long style of the pistil protrudes out of the flower.
The fruit is a capsule, and the seeds have wings at both ends.

[Notes]
The Japanese name derives from Hetsuka on the Osumi Peninsula.
