Japanese name: オオユリワサビ(大百合山葵) Scientific name:Eutrema okinosimense
[Overview]
A perennial 15–70 cm tall, found in deciduous forests and often forming colonies.
It has bulbil-like leaves in which the base of the leaf stalk is thickened.
These bulbil-like leaves detach and become new seedlings.
The leaves are simple, basal or alternate, ovate-cordate, with wavy teeth on the margin.
Right after flowering and fruiting, the leaves wither, leaving only the bases of the leaf stalks; in this state it passes the summer, and it puts out leaves again in late autumn.
A short raceme emerges at the stem tip.
The flowers are white with 4 petals, and the petals are about 6–9 mm long.
The fruit is a silique.
