About
A daimyo garden designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty. It was built as an ochaya (tea house) in the first year of Genroku (1688) by Naoyuki Matsui, lord of Yatsushiro Castle. About 5,000 Higo hanashobu (Higo Japanese irises) are usually at their best from late May to mid-June.
